Today I’m going to burst your bubble regarding some untruths that you may have in your minds. Untruths regarding salvation, and heaven, and how it is you get there.
There are some who believe that you can get to heaven on your own good works, that is to say, there are some who believe that if their good works outweigh their bad works, they are going to heaven.
Your good works can never outweigh your bad works
There is no such thing as good works when it comes to salvation. No one can enter into heaven based on good works. That is an illusion.; a great magic trick. A deception.
The Bible says:
“We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.” (Isaiah 64:6).
The Bible also says: “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
This illusion, this great deception, that someone, anyone, can enter enter based on their good works is simply not true. We are all sinners. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We have all broken God’s law, and we are all infected with sin. All our thoughts and desires and actions are motivated by our sinful nature.
Who then can be saved?
Paul in the Bible said it best: “Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” (Romans 7:24).
We were all born with a sinful nature. A nature that causes our minds to be dominated by fear, distrust, hatred and selfishness; a nature that wants to live independent of God; a nature that wants us believe that we are gods and that we can make our own moral code as to how we should and can live.
But it is all a lie; it’s all a great deception, like a vapour or a mist in the wind; like smoke that is blown away by the wind. We cannot live by our own moral code because we have a sinful nature that taints and turns every good thing into something corrupt and impure.
Trust in the Lord and you will be saved
Again, Paul said it best in the Bible when he said:
“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!” (Galatians 1)
My dear Somali friends: why do you think Christians are killed around the world? Why do you think the Bible is banned from so many countries? Why do you think so many governments of this world make it illegal to try and convert people to Christ and Christianity?
The Bible says: “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
It is Satan himself who have pulled the wool over your eyes if you do not see and understand that your sin is going to keep you out of heaven. It is a lie to believe that your sins are trivial, and not really that bad. But it is Jesus who said: “That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I Am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24).
And who did Jesus claim to be? He claimed to be the Saviour of the world. He said:
““I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35).
“I am the bread that came down from heaven.” (John 6:41).
“Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.
“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.”
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.” (Revelation 22:1-7).
