God says in the Bible:

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” – John 13:34-35

Waxaan idin siinayaa qaynuun cusub oo ah, Waa inaad isjeclaataan; sidaan idiin jeclaaday, idinkuna waa inaad isu jeclaataan. Sidaasay dadka oo dhammi idinku garan doonaan inaad xertaydii tihiin, haddaad jacayl isu qabtaan.” – Yooxanaa 13:34-35

People who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are people who love others. Loving other people and caring for them is something that Christians do. Many Christian organizations go to different parts of the world so that they can feed the hungry; or give clothes to those who need them. Many Christian organizations go to other parts of the world and set up hospitals to take care of the sick; or help communities rebuild after a natural disaster like a tsunami or a hurricane that has damaged their city. Many Christian organizations go to other parts of the world to set up schools; help orphans and widows; and to visit people who are in prisons.

God says in the Bible:

“But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.” – Deuteronomy 30:17-20

“Laakiinse haddii qalbigiinnu sii jeesto, oo aad dhegaysan weydaan, laakiinse laydiin jiito inaad ilaahyo kale caabuddaan oo u adeegtaan, waxaan maanta idiin caddaynayaa inaad hubaal halligmaysaan, oo cimrigiinnu ku dheeraan maayo dalka aad Webi Urdun uga gudbaysaan inaad gashaan oo aad hantidaan.  Maanta waxaan u yeedhayaa samada iyo dhulka inay idiinku markhaati furaan, inaan idin hor dhigay nolol iyo geeri, iyo barako iyo inkaar, haddaba sidaas daraaddeed nolosha doorta idinka iyo farcankiinnuba aad noolaateene,  idinkoo Rabbiga Ilaahiinna ah jecel, oo codkiisa addeecaya, oo isaga sii xajista, waayo, isagu waa noloshiinna.” – Sharciga Kunoqoshadiisa 3-:17-20

It is very sad but many of my Somali brothers and sisters have chosen to follow the god of the gun and the god of violence; they have not chosen to follow the God of life; they have not chosen to follow the God of love; they have not chosen to follow the God of peace. They have chosen to follow the god of the clans who is a god of war. Jesus Christ taught that all men should live in peace with one another and to be friends with one another. Many Somalis have chosen to follow the path of death – they have chosen to kill other Somalis. It is very sad but many Somalis are disobeying God and we can see this by the violent and evil things that they are doing.

My heart breaks when I think about my country and how the violence of my own brothers and sisters – my fellow Somalis – has destroyed the country of Somalia that I love. Many of us are foreigners and refugees living in other lands; we Somalis have been forced to leave our own country for fear of other Somalis killing us. We are not being killed by some enemy country; or by some natural disaster like a volcano or a famine; we Somalis are being killed by other Somalis – and the killing must stop.

Many Christians around the world suffer because they continue to share the Message of the Lord with other people where it is illegal or dangerous to do so. Why do Christians continue to share the Message of the Lord with others even if it puts their own lives in danger? Christians share the Message of the Lord with others because they want others to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; they continue to tell others about Jesus Christ because they want others to have their sins forgiven and for others to receive the blessing of eternal life. Christians continue to tell others about the Message of the Lord because they know they have eternal life and that if they die they are going to heaven; so Christians are not afraid to share the Message of the Lord with others – even if they die; because if they die they will still live in heaven forever.

What is the Message of the Lord?

The Message of the Lord is that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of everyone who has ever lived on the face of the earth or who will ever be born. Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins and was punished for the sins of all of us. If anyone accepts and invites Jesus Christ into their lives as Lord and Savior they will be saved because the Bible says that anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Anyone who confesses to God that they are a sinner and in need of salvation will have their sins forgiven and they will receive God’s Spirit and be born again. They will live forever with God in heaven: they will know that they have eternal life and that their sins have been forgiven.

There was a man who lived in Egypt and this man loved Jesus Christ very much. This man liked to give out papers that told other people about Jesus Christ and how they could go to heaven by believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The government of Egypt did not like this man giving out Christian literature. So they arrested him and tried to make him stop. The police threatened this man’s family and said they would kill the man’s children if he did not stop telling other people about Jesus Christ.

The man said that God would take care of him and his family, including his children, no matter what happened to him. They asked the man why he continued to talk to Jesus to everyone even thought his life was in danger.

The man told them what Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

“Markaasaa Ciise wuxuu Toomas ku yidhi, Anigu waxaan ahay jidka iyo runta iyo nolosha. Ninna Aabbaha uma yimaado, xaggayguu ku yimaado maahee.”

If you are a Somali and you are killing people then this is what God says to you today:

Do not think you can fool God? If you have killed someone in the past then God can see that you still have blood on your hands. But the good news is that if you say to Jesus Christ that you are a sinner, if you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, Jesus will do it: Jesus will forgive your sins if you ask Him to. Jesus will forgive you of any sins that you have ever committed – including murder, rape, or torture. God is a forgiving God and He does not want anyone to remain living in the darkness. If you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; God will wash away all of your sins and you will be made clean; you will be forgiven and given a new life. You will be able to put down your guns and stop the killing in Somalia.

Pray for the peace of our country of Somalia. There is a new day coming when Somalis will once again live in peace in their country. There is a new day coming when Somalis will not follow what the Warlords are saying – but they will follow what the Lord of Lords and the Prince of Peace says. Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords and the Prince of Peace.

Jesus Christ taught us:

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” – John 13:34-35
