The Bible says God is our Father. He is the one who created the whole universe, and everything that was created was created through God. God is the Father of all creation, God is the Father of time because He created it.
“yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.” (1 Corinthians 8:6).
And we should behave the way our Father in heaven – God – wants us to behave: “Do you thus repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is not He your Father who has bought you? He has made you and established you.” – Deuteronomy 32:6
We should allow God our Father to shape us and make us into the type of people that He wants us to be: “But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8).
When we are hungry or have some other kind of need the Bible says: “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?” (Matthew 6:26).
So we can see that God is a Father to all who believe.
God can become your Father
To be adopted means that someone else decides that they will become either your father or your mother and take care of you. We were all born with a father and a mother: maybe we knew both of them and maybe we did not. Maybe one of them died or was not around when we were born. But we all were born with a father and a mother.
Many Somali has become orphans: that means that both their mother and their father died and they had no one to take care of them. When a Somali becomes an orphan sometimes an uncle will say to the young man “You are now my son, I will take care of you; my house will become your house and you will come and live with me”. The uncle will take care of the orphan and give him a place to live. And so the young man has been adopted by his uncle.
We were all born onto this earth by human fathers and mothers; and we are their children. But how can you get adopted into the God’s family.
If you want to be a child of God you must be born again. To be born again you need to turn away from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. You cannot go to heaven because of your good works. All our works are like filthy rags before the Lord; we have all gone astray; we have all sinned – every single one of us.
We need to be forgiven in order to go into heaven; we can never do enough good works to go into heaven because no one can enter heaven because of their own good works. We can only get into heaven if we believe in the work that Jesus – the perfect Son of God did for us on the cross.
God the Son came down from heaven in the body of a man and lived a perfect life here on earth. Jesus never sinned. And then Jesus took all the sins of the world upon Himself and died on the cross for them. God punished Jesus for my sins and your sins and the sins of all the people who ever existed. Jesus paid it all.
The real issue is that we need to have the sins that we have committed forgiven; and they cannot be forgiven unless someone paid for our sins. If you commit a crime and you go to jail you might get released if your time in jail was limited. Once you are out of jail you are free once again to live in society like any other normal human being. Were you forgiven? No you were not forgiven – you paid the punishment for your crime and you were set free because the punishment came to end. You paid the price and you were now set free.
The punishment for our sins is to be in the lake of fire and suffer forever for the sins we have committed. Some people are put in jail until they die, this is called a life sentence. They never leave jail. The punishment for our sins is that we have to suffer in the lake of fire forever and we will never get out. The punishment for our sins against God is a permanent sentence in hell; the payment for our sins is to spend eternity in the lake of fire suffering and being tormented for the sins we committed on earth.
The good news
The good news is that Jesus died for our sins – in that moment on the cross God poured out His wrath upon Jesus Christ and Jesus tasted eternal suffering and death for us. Jesus paid the price for our sins. Jesus experienced the lake of fire and the death of His soul for us. Somehow Jesus experienced the eternity of suffering for us on the cross. Jesus died for us; He paid the price for our sins; He suffered a life sentence for us and died for our sins; but Jesus rose from the dead 3 days later to live forever. So if we believe in Jesus Christ it’s like we died with Him and rose again from the dead.
Jesus died for our sins, and if we believe in Jesus Christ it is like we died for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead to eternal life and we become born again by the power of the Holy Spirit to eternal life. We are born again by the Spirit and will live forever with God in heaven.
Jesus became a criminal for us
A criminal is someone who breaks the Law and we have all broken God’s laws. Some of us have lied, some of us have lusted after other women, some of us have murdered, we have all sinned and broken God’s laws in one way or another. We are criminals when it comes to following God’s laws. And we cannot escape the punishment for our sins if we do more good works. No, we must pay for the sins that we committed, we must suffer the punishment for breaking God’s laws.
The Bible says, the wages of sin is death; that means that the punishment for committing sins against God is eternal death. I want you to experience the joy of knowing God and having your sins forgiven so that you can have eternal life.
Jesus became sin for us; Jesus became a lawbreaker for us; Jesus died for breaking the Law even though He never broke the Law.
Jesus was a perfect man – He never sinned because He was God in a human body. God spoke to Moses through a burning bush; God’s Word created the universe and by His Word God created Adam and Eve. God spoke to many prophets in many different ways; but now in the last days God speaks to us through His eternal Son Jesus Christ.
Yes God is eternal
Yes God is eternal. That means that God does not have a beginning or and end. God was not created. But the eternal God came speak through a bush – the bush was created, but God in the bush was not created.
God is eternal. And the eternal God prepared a human body for Himself – the body was created, but God in the body was not created – God is eternal. The eternal God entered a created body and that body was nailed to a cross and blood came out of the boyd and that boyd died on that cross. It was God’s blood that came out of the body that day that Jesus Christ died on the cross; it is God’s blood that washed away all our sins; it is Jesus Christ who is the door for us to have an eternal relationship with God who is in heaven.
When we accept Jesus Christ we are born again. We are adopted into the family of God.
The Bible says: “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.
God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.
God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
