The Devil, or Satan, does not want people to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. So the Devil will use any weapon he can to keep people away from believing and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The Devil will use money, power, riches, fame, glory and other things to distract and keep people away from Jesus Christ. One thing the Devil uses to keep people away from Jesus Christ is called Witchcraft.

The Devil uses power and force

Jesus teaches us: Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life. “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death.” (Revelation 2:10-11).

The Devil has the power here on earth to make people suffer. Jesus says that some Christians will be put in prison and will face death. They will be tortured. Some will even die. The Devil uses torture and pain as a means of witchcraft to try and get Christians to deny Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Disobeying God is witchcraft

God tells us to do many good things. He tells us these things in the Bible. If we disobey God and what it is He is telling us to do in the Bible, we are rebelling against Him and disobeying Him. This is witchcraft.

The Bible teaches us: “Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.” (1 Samuel 15:23).

People who disobey God are committing witchcraft. If people disobey God and go do whatever they want, those people are following the Devil and rebelling against God. They are committing witchcraft.

Praying to the dead is witchcraft

God does not want us to pray to any other power other than the power of the Holy Spirit. But some people want to pray to the spirits of their dead ancestors. This is a sin. This is rebellion against God. This is witchcraft.

The Bible teaches us: “When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-12).

It is a sin to call forth or pray to the spirits of those people who have died. If you do this then you are sinning against God. You should only pray to God and ask the Holy Spirit to live inside of you.

King Saul was a man in the Old Testament. He asked a psychic to call forth the spirit of a dead man. This was a sin. This was witchcraft.

“I have to talk to a man who has died,” he said. “Will you call up his spirit for me?”

“Are you trying to get me killed?” the woman demanded. “You know that Saul has outlawed all the mediums and all who consult the spirits of the dead. Why are you setting a trap for me?” (1 Samuel 28:8-9).

Praying to angels is a sin

“Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud.” (Colossians 2:18).

We are not allowed to worship angels if we are Christians. This is witchcraft.

It is witchcraft to worship idols or statues

Christians are not allowed to worship idols of statues. It is a sin to worship or pray to a statue of Mary, the mother of Jesus. It is a sin to pray to the spirit of a dead man. It is a sin to pray to an idol like a cross. It is a sin to pray to any kind of statue of a person or anything that is in heaven or on earth.

God forbids this in the 10 commandments. It says in the 10 commandments: “You must not have any other god but me. “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.” (Exodus 20:4-5).

As Christians we are to only worship God

Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'” (Luke 4:8).

We as Christians only worship the true God. We worship the God who created the heavens and the earth. We believe that there is only one God, one Lord, one Creator of the Universe.

“The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-6).

Jesus said: “The LORD our God is the one and only LORD.” (Mark 12:29).

Do not be fooled

Do not let the Devil use witchcraft to fool you into worshipping someone or something other than God. Jesus told us: “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!” (John 5:39).

Jesus told us not to worship a book. Jesus told us to worship God. And Jesus said that we are to worship Him because He is God. He is God who entered into a human body and showed His people how to live and what to believe.
