There are many, many reasons why it is good to believe in Jesus Christ as your own personal Lord and Saviour. The Bible says
“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved…” – Acts 16:31.
We all have faith; we all believe in something. Even if we say we are atheists – that only means that we believe in nothing. An atheist is a believer in nothing; a Christian is a believer in a good God who gives life and helps us to to be a blessing to other people. So we as human beings all believe in something. Some people believe in their money; so people believe that if they are good people God will accept them into heaven (these types of people believe in their own good works to take them into heaven).
Jesus can give you eternal life.
It says in the Bible:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” – John 3:16-21
If you put your faith in Jesus Christ you will receive eternal life; if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ you will be saved. You can go to bed at night knowing that you will be going to heaven; you can face sickness and death with a smile because you know where it is you are going. You can have peace and comfort if your children believe in Jesus Christ because you also know where they are going.
Jesus can give you peace
It says in the book of John:
“I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27.
Peace is something that we all want; but there is something within us that is always troubling us; it is called our old nature. Our old nature gets worked up about things, it gets nervous and restless, it starts to panic and think the worst about situations. But Jesus can give you peace. He calmed the troubled waters with a word and He can also calm your troubled heart.
Jesus can give you joy
Many people in today’s world are suffering from depression – prescription drug sales are producing record profits. People want to escape the feelings they have because of the reality before them so they turn to mild altering and mood changing drugs so that they don’t have to face or deal with reality. We as human beings are in an era where we cannot face reality so we feel it is better to medicate ourselves than to cry out before God and pour out our hearts to Him.
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.” – John 15.
Jesus can give you joy. If you trust in Him and give Him your heart and your life He will fill you an amazing joy that will take away any depression and sorrow you may have. You may still need some medications and counselling to cope with your situation but you will finally feel this wonderful joy come into your heart that will sustain you and bless you in times of trouble.
Jesus can cast our demons
Demons are evil spirits that serve Satan and go around doing evil – they are also called unclean spirits. Jesus conquered all these demonic powers when He rose up from the dead. It was a spiritual victory over the Devil and all the devil’s powers. In the Bible there are many cases where people brought their demon possessed children to Jesus and Jesus cast them all out.
A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit.“You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.” – Mark 9
Jesus has it all
There is no problem that Jesus cannot help you with; there is no issue or situation that Jesus does not have the power to change; whatever it is that you are desiring or needing in your life – Jesus Christ will help you with it. He may not give you exactly what you were asking of hoping for; but He will bless you above and beyond whatever you can ask or imagine.
