Sometimes we do things that no one else sees or knows about. We are human beings and we sin – we are weak. Sometimes other people find out what we have done and sometimes they do not find out. But God knows everything that we have done because God “knows the secrets of every heart.” – Psalm 44:21. We cannot hide anything from God.

This is not a bad thing: it is a good thing God knows everything about our hearts and everything that what we have done. We don’t have to be scared that God knows everything about us because God loves even though He knows everything that we have done. God wants to forgive us and heal us. God wants us to feel peace and joy.

The Bible says: “I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives.” – Jeremiah 17:10. God knows why we have done the things that we have done. And He loves us. We do not have to be afraid. God know that we are only human and very weak and that we have sinned. He understands us and wants to heal us from all our pain and suffering. He was to wash away our guilt and give us peace. He wants to heal our pain and our hurts. He wants to give us peace of mind and joy.

Jesus came to heal our hearts

Most of us have had bad things happen to us: things that were not very good. Maybe we went through a divorce or a very difficult time; maybe we had to leave our country because of war; maybe we spent many days and months and years traveling from one country to another country in search for a peaceful place to live. Maybe someone harmed us; maybe someone we trusted betrayed us; maybe we saw some terrible things happen to the people that we loved. People can be very cruel but God is loving, very kind and merciful.

Jesus loves us and God loves us. Jesus came to earth from heaven in order to save us from our sins and to help us. Jesus was not sent into the world to condemn the world but that the world might be saved through Him. Jesus came to save us and to heal us – not to harm us or condemn us.

This is what the Bible says about Jesus:

“Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.

When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”

Jesus came to heal

We all have secrets, things that we have done that we haven’t told to others. And maybe you are feeling guilty for the things you have done. You feel like your relationship with God does not exist. You feel like you are going to hell because of all the sins and bad things that you have done.

There is hope for you. We have a Message from the Lord for you. We have a Message of Hope for you.

“God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” – Romans 5:8

God knows that we are sinners – we cannot hide our sin from God. God sees everything; He knows everything. He knows what we have done and why we have done it.

The beautiful thing about the salvation that Jesus Christ offers us is that He promises to take away the guilt and shame we have. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And because we have sinned many of us feel shame and guilt. We feel condemned and want to know that we have eternal life. Nothing else can take away the guilt and the shame that we feel – nothing but the blood of Jesus.

“Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.”

If you feel guilty and alienated from God; if you feel like you have been separated from God; then you need the blood of Jesus to wash away your unrighteousness that has been caused by your sins.

The Bible says:

“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”

But if you call upon the name of Jesus and ask Him to forgive you of your sins then He will forgive you and you will become a child of God and be accepted into the family of God forever. If you call upon the name of Jesus you will become an adopted child into the family of God and live with God for eternity in heaven. If you believe in Jesus and accept Him as Lord and Saviour God will give you eternal life through Jesus Christ and you will live forever with God in heaven.

Others have harmed us

Many of us have secrets that we carry in our hearts about what has happened to us; things that others have done to us, things that have hurt us physically, emotionally or psychologically. Maybe we saw something that happen to our family and those memories are very painful. We feel the pain in our heart but we cannot it. But God sees it. Jesus is the God of the broken hearted. Jesus was sent to this earth so that He could heal your broken heart.

The pain of our heart can be with us all the time and no one can see it. Maybe we act differently than others; maybe we react in different ways because of the pain we are hiding in our hearts. The pain is always there sometimes stronger and sometimes weaker – but it is always there and Jesus wants to take it away.

A Somali Christian shares her pain

Hawaa is a Somali Christian who has known Jesus for many years now. When she was younger she kept this secret of Jesus hidden in her heart. One day she contacted Somali Christian Ministries and shared her secret faith with Pastor Andrew. This is what she said:

“I wear a hijab on my head

but I have to hide my faith in Him;

I wear a big smile on my face

But I have to hide the love I have for Him;

I have a big smile on my face

But it only hides the sadness in my heart

Because I cannot share my love for Him – I mean, for Jesus.”

Hawaa had seen some terrible things happen to her family in Somalia and she suffered from nightmares and terrible emotional pain from what she saw happen to others. So one day she prayed and gave all her pain and suffering to Jesus and Jesus took away her nightmares and gave her peace. Now Hawaa is sleeping peacefully and has forgiven those people who caused harm to her family. She is living for Christ.

God is the God of the broken hearted

The Bible says:

“The LORD is close to the broken hearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

“He heals the broken hearted and bandages their wounds.”

Jesus walked upon the earth 2,000 years ago and many broken hearted people came to Jesus to be forgiven of their sins and healed of their diseases. Prostitutes, murderers, thieves, drunkards, and many other broken people came to Jesus to be forgiven of their sins and healed from their diseases. And Jesus healed them all.

One day a woman who had a disease came to Jesus after 12 years of living in pain and suffering. She knew that if she could reach Jesus and touch his clothes she would be healed. So this woman crawled through the dirt and dust of the road and stretched out her hand and touched the bottom of Jesus’ clothes. Instantly this woman was healed – her faith in Jesus healed her.

Another man brought his son to Jesus because his son was possessed by an evil spirit; the boy had an evil spirit – a demon – living inside of him. Sometimes the evil spirit would force the boy to go into the fire or go into the water to drown. It was a terrible situation. And the boy’s father was very sad and couldn’t sleep. He was always worried about his son. So the father took the son to Jesus and asked Jesus to heal the boy.

The people and the father did not believe Jesus could heal the boy.

Jesus said:

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”

The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit. “Listen, you spirit that makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said. “I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!”

Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said, “He’s dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up.”

Don’t be afraid

You may feel alone in this world. You may feel like no one is there to help you and everyone you have called upon to help you is not helping you. You may feel deserted and upset and depressed. In your heart you are crying but to the world you show a big smile.

Maybe you are hiding your faith in Jesus by the things that you do because you are scared what will happen to you if people find out you are a Christian. Maybe bad things happened to you as a child; maybe you saw evil things done to people that you love.

No matter what your pain is – Jesus is the healer for you.

God sees everything. He knows everything. He knows about the secret pains in our hearts, minds and emotions. God knows our pains and sorrows. We can come to Him with all our pains and sorrows and He will give us rest.
