Really I don’t. I feel empty, tired, discouraged and depressed; that’s the way I feel. But the Lord or His angels woke up at 5am, tired, exhausted and thinking: “Lord I am not getting out of bed this morning; I am not going down to write and record a message; I am staying here in bed.” And then I find my legs moving and here I am sitting on the coach with my Macbook Pro in my lap waiting upon the Holy Spirit to fill me with thoughts and words to say.

I can’t believe I fight the Lord and try to resist the Holy Spirit.

Let me encourage you with these words from Scripture:

“But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. 16 For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 2: 10-16.

Some of you are interested in reading the Bible; you enjoy listening to the Word being taught and preached. Some of you now understand that the Bible says that Jesus is God; and that God exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You understand that this is what the Bible says about God and Jesus Christ.

The Bible says “God revealed these things by His Spirit” to you. You didn’t come up with it; you didn’t search it out and come to these conclusions about the Trinity and Jesus Christ. It was the Holy Spirit who revealed these things to you.

Jesus Himself said: “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5.

We cannot understand the truths in the Bible without the Holy Spirit, so if you are understanding the truths in the Bible the Holy Spirit is revealing these things to you.

Understanding things in the Bible is a spiritual experience – it is a process of revelation. Some preachers think that they can reveal the word of God by studying each week for hours before preaching – looking at the greek and the Hebrew as if someone mystically the understanding of the word will come; some think by going to seminary, by quoting other famous authors and teachers that revelation of the Word will come. But the Bible says “God revealed these things by His Spirit”.

Understanding things about God comes from God via the process of revelation to us about Himself by the Spirit.

It says in the Bible ”For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” The Bible also says: “no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit”. It is by the Spirit of God that we understand the things of God. Many people also think that the Pentecostals got it all wrong with their speaking in tongues and emphasis on the Spirit. But these critics fail to see that many Pentecostals understand these truths from God; that it is only by the Spirit of God and the revelation of His word that we can understand anything about God; so Pentecostals rely on God and His Holy Spirit to move upon them and give them these revelations.
It is God’s Spirit that helps us. Sometimes we may be confused because Jesus said you can do nothing without me; in other words, you cannot do anything without me. But we also read that it is the Spirit that helps us. So why does Jesus say you can do nothing me; and the Bible also says that we cannot understand anything about God unless it is by the Spirit.

Well, because the Spirit and Christ are one; the Spirit and Christ are the same; Christ is the Spirit, and the Spirit is Christ. How do we know that Jesus is the Spirit: because Jesus said: “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”And the Jews said to Jesus, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”

That’s right. Jesus existed as the Spirit before He came to earth in the body of a man. The Christ, the anointed one, the Saviour, the Messiah, the Redeemer has always been the Spirit. He, as Saviour, came down in the body of a man to save us. The Saviour is the Spirit in the body of a man, the Saviour is God, and God is Spirit – but He the Spirit took upon Himself the body of a man. Jesus was the walking, talking, healing power of the Holy Spirit – very God. So when Jesus says we cannot do anything without Him, He is saying, we cannot do anything for God without the Spirit, and it is the Spirit who reveals all things to us. In fact, the Spirit is Christ and Christ is the Spirit.

It is all about the Spirit and the power of Christ in us – the hope of glory. It is by the Spirit that Paul said,

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”
10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.”

We often quote these verses when we think about heaven and they do apply to heaven. But these words are spoken by Paul in the context of knowing and understanding the things of God. “Let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me – the Lord.” God has prepared for us wonderful truths and teachings about Himself which the Spirit is revealing to us day by day, moment by moment. We are all as believes in Christ receiving revelations about God every day. No eyes has seen no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for us.

So don’t wait till Sunday to hear your pastor or preacher preach until you want to understand the mind of God. The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Open your ears to God and He will reveal things to you about Himself right now, today and tomorrow.

So glory in God today as He reveals Himself, His Word, and His plan and purpose for your life to you today. Glory in God and trust in Him. You don’t need any man or woman to show you and tell you about God; you don’t need to depend on some human being to know God. All you need to trust in God and ask God to reveal Himself to you; and then you will see Jesus, who is the face of God. If you seek after God you will find Jesus, who is very God, the Word of God, the Spirit of God in human form. The mystery of God revealed to us, revealed to those who believe in the saving power of Christ.

May the Lord bless you today.
