There is a very unique group of people in Africa and they are called the Maasai. Most people in Africa have heard of them, and many people in Africa know about them. They are unique in that continue to live in the desert areas and countryside of places like Kenya and Tanzania. They have some pretty unique features and one of them is that they can walk in the dark.
The desert and the outdoors is a way of life for the Maasai. They don’t live in cities, or buildings made out of steel and cement, they live in huts in the open country, they live in the places that God has made. And they are used to walking, hunting and living in nature.
When Somalis travel from their home country and need to escape to the surrounding countries to escape war, persecution, and famine, very often the Somalis have to hire the Maasai to lead them through the desert areas at night. The Somalis need to get to different countries in Africa and they need to avoid police checkpoints and armed gangs to avoid getting arrested or robbed. So they employ the Maasai to walk them into a neighbouring country to safety.
The Maasai can walk in the dark but you can’t hear them or see them. They walk very quietly and know how to stay hidden. When you are following them you have to walk very close to them and watch their feet or else you will lose them in the night sky.
Many people live in the dark
The Bible says: God has
“He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” – Colossians 1:12-14.
If you do not believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour then you are living in a Kingdom a Darkness. You may know what to walk in the dark, how to live, how to earn money to buy food, and have a place to live. You may know how to have a family and provide for them – but you are still living in a Kingdom of Darkness because you have to accepted Jesus Christ – the King of the Kingdom of Light. If you want to live in the Kingdom of Light then you need to come to the King – Jesus Christ.
If you are living in the Kingdom of Darkness you cannot see the wonderful place called heaven that Jesus Christ has prepared for you. In the beginning God said “let there be light” and there was light. And Adam and Eve could see the beautiful garden around them – because there was light.
But even a blind man can learn now to walk around a city, because he has done it so many times. If you want to see God and see His face shining all around you then you need to put your faith in Jesus Christ.
You see, it is your sin that causes you to remain in darkness about the things of God. You cannot have a personal relationship with God unless your sin is removed from you. Your sin is like a hand placed over your eyes so that you cannot see, it is light the total darkness of a cave, or the blackness of the night when the moon and stars are night shining and you cannot see where you are going.
God’s Word is the Light
The Bible is a book that God has given us so that we can learn more about Him and learn how we have to live our lives here on earth. The Bible says: “Your word is a light to guide my feet and a light for my path.” – Psalm 119:105.
God’s Word teaches us how we are to live our lives. The Bible says things like husbands love your wives; pray for your enemies; do good to those who hate you; trust in the Lord and do not lean on your own understanding; the Lord is the one who provides; the Lord is our refuge and our strong tower; the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are safe.
Yes there are many wonderful teachings and truths in the Bible that help us to live very blessed lives for God.
But the greatest blessing is to know Jesus Christ. The greatest blessing is to have Jesus Christ forgive you of your sins and to wash them away by the spiritual power of His blood. When you ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins He will do it. Jesus is alive. We know this because the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
The Bible says: “He is risen from the dead!”
And now we know that Jesus Christ is in heaven at the right hand of His Father and Jesus is praying for us to the Father.
“So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
“There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.”
Jesus Christ is not only our Saviour He is also our friend. Jesus washed away our sins and takes away the darkness from our eyes and He puts us into the Kingdom of Light. Jesus Christ saved us from the Kingdom and Darkness and placed us into the Kingdom of Light. We are born again. We are saved. We have eternal life. Hallelujah!
Jesus said:
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”
“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”
God is good
So if you feel like you are walking around this earth in the darkness; if you feel like there is so much more to life than you are experiencing right now; then I am here to tell you that there is hope. God loves you and God is good. God cares about you and
