So here you are a Somali living in the free world. You are not living in a country where drugs, alcohol, or wild living are not restricted. Mind you if you break the law by committing fraud, assaulting someone, stealing, or killing – you will go to jail if you are caught and go to court. And let me give you a piece of advice – you will get caught. Sooner or later your luck will run out and you will be standing in front of a judge and you will do time.

The Bible says:

“…if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.”

Everything is available to you, but not everything is good for you.

The Bible says:

I am allowed to do anything” – but not everything is good for you.” Remember that, just because something is available for you to do doesn’t mean it is good for you.

Look at your friends

One day I was in Toronto and a friend of mine had a heart attack. I’m not that young you know. And I was in the critical care unit visiting my friend and a bunch of Somalis were there. My friend is not Somali. But when my friend was there a young Somali man had been shot and was in critical condition. Many Somalis were in the waiting room crying, and holding each other.

I asked his mom if I could pray for him and she said yes. But the mom’s daughter didn’t want me to pray because I was a Christian and would pray in the name of Jesus. But the mom said: “Go ahead and pray. We need God’s help.”

Where are your friends now? How many have been killed? How many are in jail? How many have wasted or are in the process of wasting their lives through drugs and alcohol?

You need God, not drugs, alcohol or violence

Life is short. Today your are a young man, tomorrow you will be old, and then you will die and stand before God on the day of Judgment. You may die much sooner than that and stand before the great white judgment throne in heaven.

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” – Revelation 20:11-15

Is your salvation secure?

Do you know if you are going to heaven? Have you asked God to forgive your sins? Have you changed your ways and given up the life of alcohol, drugs, partying and guns? Are you ready to die and meet God? That day will come much sooner than you think.

Do people who get arrested by the police think to themselves: “Today I am going to go here or there and then get arrested.” No, people get arrested and they are in shock. It happens so quickly.

And Jesus will return like that one day like a thief in the night. If people knew when the thief would be coming they would be ready. But people don’t know when the thief will come. And you don’t know when Jesus will appear either, so don’t let the devil steal your soul and keep it out of heaven.

Give your heart to God

Call out to God before it is too late. Ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart and to forgive you for the sins that you have committed.
