When you look into the sky at night you see the stars and the planets and it is God who put them there. God created the stars and the planets: God created the sun and the moon.

The Bible tells us that it was God who created the heavens and the earth by His Word. This is what the Bible tells us about how God created the stars in the sky:

“Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened. God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.” – Genesis 1:14-18

“Ilaahna wuxuu yidhi, Iftiimmo ha ahaadeen meesha bannaan oo samada dhex ah si ay u kala soocaan maalinta iyo habeenka; oo ha u ahaadeen calaamooyin, iyo xilliyo, iyo maalmo iyo sannado;  oo iftiimmo ha u noqdeen meeshii bannaanayd oo samada dhex ahayd si ay u iftiimiyaan dhulka dushiisa; sidaasayna ahaatay. Oo Ilaah wuxuu sameeyey labada iftiin ee waaweyn; si uu iftiinka weynu u xukumo maalinta, iftiinka yaruna u xukumo habeenka; oo xiddigahana wuu sameeyey.  Ilaahna wuxuu iyaga dhigay meeshii bannaanayd oo samada dhex ahayd si ay dhulka u iftiimiyaan, oo ay u xukumaan maalinta iyo habeenka, oo ay iftiinka uga soocaan gudcurka, Ilaahna wuxuu arkay in taasu wanaagsan tahay.” – Bilowgii 1:14-18

The stars and planets move through the sky: but they do not change. You can always find the same stars in the same patterns in the sky. They may have moved a bit in the sky but you will always be able to find the constellations.

Job was a man in the Old Testament who was covered with all sorts of difficulties and problems. His family and health were taken away from him and his wife told him to reject God. But Job continued to praise God and in the end of his life he was more blessed than it was at the beginning of his life.

This is what Job said about God and the creation of the stars:

“He moves mountains without their knowing it
    and overturns them in his anger.
He shakes the earth from its place
    and makes its pillars tremble.
He speaks to the sun and it does not shine;
    he seals off the light of the stars.
He alone stretches out the heavens
    and treads on the waves of the sea.

 He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion,
    the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.
He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed,
    miracles that cannot be counted.” – Job 9:5-10

“Isagu wuxuu rujiyaa buuraha, oo iyana ma ay yaqaaniin,
Markuu cadhadiisa ku afgembiyo.
Dhulka wuu ka ruxruxaa meeshiisa,
Oo tiirarkiisuna way wada gariiraan.
Wuxuu amraa qorraxda, oo iyana sooma ay baxdo,
Xiddigahana wuu xidhaa.
Isagoo keliya ayaa samooyinka kala bixiya,
Oo wuxuu ku dul socdaa hirarka badda.
Oo wuxuu sameeyey ururrada xiddigaha oo la yidhaahdo Orsada iyo Oriyon iyo Toddobaadyada,
Iyo xiddigaha koonfureed.
Wuxuu sameeyaa waxyaalo waaweyn oo aan la baadhi karin,
Oo ah waxyaalo yaab badan oo aan la tirin karin.” – Job 9:5-10

And this is the way that God wants us to keep our faith in God. God wants us to keep our faith in Him no matter what happens. God wants us to keep our faith in Him no matter where on earth we find ourselves.

I am Nelson. I am a Somali Christian. And I have found myself in different parts of the world at different times of my life. I was born in Somalia and have lived in Italy and Canada and in many countries in Africa. I was like a planet that God moved upon this earth until I have finally stopped for a while here in Australia. But God will probably move me again and I may go to live in a different country. We as human beings are always on the move. We move to different countries, we move to different cities or houses. We are like the stars in the sky that move according to God’s power and God’s plan.

But God wants us to keep in believing Him wherever our home may be. God does not want our faith to change in Him. When I was in Africa I believed in God and in His Son Jesus Christ. When I was in Canada I believed in God and in His Son Jesus Christ. And now when I am in Australia I believe in God and in His Son Jesus Christ.

My situation may have changed; my life may have changed; but my faith in God remains the same.

John was a student of Jesus Christ who was called one of the apostles of Jesus Christ. An apostle was a man who followed Jesus Christ and gave up his life for the Lord. There were 12 apostles who followed Jesus and were called by him to be his students. John was the last living apostle in the year 95 AD.

John was arrested and sent to an island called Patmos as punishment for being a Christian. John was a very old man and had lived his life for the Lord. It was there on the island that God showed John the Book of Revelation. John wrote the Book of Revelation and it is now in our Bible. John wrote the Book of Revelation – the last book of the Bible while he was in exile and under persecution and punishment.

Take courage my Somali Christian friends because it is in these times of persecution and loneliness that God speaks to us and visits us and uses us for His glory. God used John while John was on an island suffering for the Lord Jesus Christ. And God will speak to you and use you as well in your time of suffering and persecution.

The Old Testament prophet Malachi tells us:

“I am the LORD, and I do not change.” – Malachi 3:6

“anigoo Rabbiga ah isma beddelo” – Malaakii 3:6

So when you look out into the night sky and you see the stars and the planets that God has made: remember that you are not alone. God is with you and He has created you. God has moved you and put you where you are and His loving hand is upon you and He is guiding you and leading you.

Your situation may be tough. People may have changed and even turned against you. But remember my dear Somali Christian brothers and sisters – God has not changed. God is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. God will always be with you. God will do miracles in your life. God will be with you in your troubles and in all your difficulties and God will always see you through your challenges and troubles and in the end you will always be more blessed than you were in the beginning.

God knows how every situation is going to turn out. He doesn’t always show us how things are going to turn out because He wants us to grow in our faith and trust in Him. So if you are going through a difficult time I encourage you to trust in the Lord and to put your faith in Him. Do not worry about what others are doing or saying or how things are going to work out– listen to what the Lord is saying to you and put your trust in the Lord and keep serving the Lord.

It says in the Bible:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;
    fear the Lord and shun evil.

This will bring health to your body
    and nourishment to your bones.” – Proverbs 3:5-8

“Qalbigaaga dhammaantii Rabbiga ku aamin,
Oo waxgarashadaadana ha isku hallayn.
Jidadkaaga oo dhan isaga ku qiro,
Oo isna waddooyinkaaguu toosin doonaa.
Ha isla weynaan;
Rabbiga ka cabso; oo sharka ka fogow.
Taasu waxay xundhurtaada u noqon doontaa caafimaad,
Oo lafahaagana waxay u noqon doontaa dhuux.” – Maahmaahyadii 3:5-8

When trouble comes don’t take matters into your own hands but pray and trust in the Lord and He will deliver you out of all your troubles.

Let us pray…
