Many people do not understand that the Son of God is eternal. That means that the Son of God has no beginning and no end. The Son of God is God. The Son of God was not created. The Son of God is God. Therefore we can call Him the Eternal Son of God. A body was created for the Eternal Son of God and this body was developed in the womb of a virgin young woman named Mary. This baby was born and Mary gave Him the name of Jesus. This is why we call Jesus the Son of God.

The universe was created by the Eternal Son of God

“Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.” (Hebrews 1:1-2).

The Eternal Son of God was the one through whom the universe was created. This means that the Son of God existed before the world was created. So it is impossible that the Son of God is a created being. The Son of God could only be God. The Son of God was not created because HE is God.

The Word of God is the Son of God

The Bible teaches us that: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:1-3).

The universe was created through the Word of God who is God. This is what John teaches us in John 1:1-3. And we read in Hebrews 1:1-2 that the universe was created through the Son of God. Therefore the Son of God, and the Word of God, are the same entity, or being, or person. Both are God. The Son of God, and the same God is called the Word of God, two names for the same God.

The Eternal Son of God died for our sins on the cross

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.” (Hebrews 1:3).

The Eternal Son of God, living inside the body of Jesus Christ, was nailed to the cross for our sins. He died there, that is to say, He suffered for our sins and tasted the second death for us. The second death is the death of the soul in hell as punishment for our sins.

The eternal Son of God was born as a baby

“For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”? And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” (Hebrews 1:5-6).

The Eternal Son of God also became a human son with God as His Father and Mary as His mother. This is a great mystery. It is a mystery. The Eternal God, the Son of God, became a man and was born into this world as the Son of Man, or as a baby boy and God was His Father and His mother Mary was a virgin.

The Son of God is God

The Son of God is God. The Bible teaches us that “But about the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;” (Hebrews 1:8).

The Son of God is called God. There can be no doubt that the Son of God is God, and that this Son of God, who is God, became a man whom we know as Jesus.

God lives in the Son of God

We are told elsewhere in the Bible that God is the Son of God, because the Son of God is God. This why Christians believe in the Trinity. The Trinity teaches that the Father is God, The Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. All three are God

“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together….For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” (Colossians 1:15-20).

The fullness of God, or all of God, dwelt or lived in the Son of God. And the Son of God became a man. And that man, named Jesus, died on the cross for our sins and shed His blood so that we could be forgiven.

The Jews of Jesus time knew that Son of God meant that Jesus was God

When Jesus called God His Father, the Jews who were alive at that time knew that Jesus was saying that He was God. There is no doubt about this. When Jesus said God was His Father the Jews picked up stones to kill Him because they thought that Jesus was committing blasphemy by saying that He was God. Little did they know that in fact Jesus was the Son of God, and that they were about kill Jesus, who was God.

“Once again the people picked up stones to kill him. Jesus said, “At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?” They replied, “We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.” (John 10:31-33).
