Woman at the well

we know when he comes he will tell us everything….Jesus said to her the one you are waiting for is standing right in front of you

John the Baptist in jail

are you the messiah or should we wait for another…Jesus told the people that John sent to Him to go and tell John that He – Jesus – was the Messiah. The way Jesus told John that He was the Messiah was to quote from the Old Testament prophets. The OT prophets said that the Messiah would come and do great miracles, the Messiah would heal people, the Messiah would raise people from the dead, Jesus said that He was that Messiah.

Man born blind

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.

“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”

“It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us.[a] The night is coming, and then no one can work. But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam”(Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!

Man paralyzed

One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?”

“I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”

Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”

Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking!

Woman bent over

One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, 11 he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” 13 Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!

Maybe you are like the woman at the well. You are someone who has been sinning for many, many years and you are trying to stop but you can’t. The woman at the well was divorced 5 times and was on another lover. She had had enough. She was looking for the Saviour. Maybe you are looking for the Saviour.

Maybe you are in jail. Or locked up in your apartment. Maybe you are in a country where it is illegal to be a Christian. We are praying for you. You are not alone. God is with you. Remember that you are believing in the true Messiah. Jesus is the Lord. Jesus is God. Jesus did die on the cross for your sins. He will save you from your sins and if you believe in Him He has given you eternal life.

Maybe you are blind. You just don’t understand that Jesus is real. He died on the cross. Maybe you need God to open your eyes and show you how much of a sinner you really are and how much you need to be saved. God will do that for you now.

Maybe you are paralyzed with fear. You are so afraid to do anything for the Lord or maybe you are simply afraid. You have a phobia. You are terrified of germs, or of planes, or of heights, or of speaking. Maybe you are afraid to die. Jesus has overcome death. Jesus has defeated Satan. Jesus has given us power over sin.

Woman bent over

Maybe you are a woman and you feel like you are worthless. Maybe you are a teenage girl and you think that just because your father doesn’t love you that you should go out and have sex with boys just so that you can feel loved. Maybe you have a very low self-esteem and you don’t feel valuable. You just want to crawl up into a ball and hide in the corner, or in your bed, or in a closet. This woman in the Bible was an old lady and she was crippled. She was bent over and couldn’t straighten out her back. She went to bed like that. I met a man who was like that. Then 5 of us prayed for him and the demons left him and he was healed. Jesus said that Satan had kept this woman bound for all these years and Jesus cast out the devils and healed her.

Maybe you are crippled with fear. Maybe you are crippled with self-pity or thinking that you are not worthy to be heard by God, that you are too much of a sinner. Nobody is too much of a sinner for God. God specialized in cleaning up the dirtiest sinners. He loves to do that.

And you are worthy. You are valuable. You have worth in God’s eyes. Your sins are forgiven and you have a role to play in God’s Kingdom but you have to believe it. Believe it because it’s true.

You as a woman have value. It doesn’t matter what your husband says. It doesn’t matter what your father says. It doesn’t matter what society says, or the other girls at school say, or what the boys say at school. God is your Father and He loves you. He created you and He says you are beautiful – inside and out. So walk in the knowledge that you are loved and cared for and beautiful in God’s eyes. That’s what matters. The world is evil. And those who belong to the world think you are evil. But those who belong to God know that you are beautiful inside and out.
