I want to talk to you today about hearing from God. We go through our lives and we have a lot of issue and problems that come against us. And very often we panic and get afraid, or we get upset at what is happening around us. But God is always there and He is always helping us – and He is always speaking to us.

Jonah was a prophet in the Old Testament and once he got very angry and God because God didn’t do what he wanted him to do. And God said to Jonah, ““Is it right for you to be angry…?”

It is very difficult to accept our situation, but there is no other way to have peace than to accept our situations, and to remember that God will speak to us, He will guide us, He will not leave us as orphans.

God will speak to you and He will speak to me. Listen to this scripture from the Old Testament prophet Zechariah, Three months later, on February 15,[b] the Lord sent another message to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah and grandson of Iddo.

At first this Scipture may not seem like much. Listen to it again, “Three months later, on February 15,[b] the Lord sent another message to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah and grandson of Iddo.”

Imagine that. It took 3 months but God came through and gave another message to Zechariah. God spoke to Zechariah. It took 3 months but God finally appeared and spoke. When God speaks to us and gives us an answer to our problems what a great blessing that is. We have the solution to a very difficult problem and we know that our problem is going to get resolved.

Listen to the Scripture again, “Three months later, on February 15,[b] the Lord sent another message to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah and grandson of Iddo.”

There was a specific day in time that God spoke. Perhaps God spoke to you today and gave you instructions on how to move forward and live a fulfilled and glorious and prosperous rest of your life.

Some of you are struggling with addictions. Terrible addictions. And instead getting angry at your circumstances as if it’s God fault that you are in the mess you find yourself in, instead of getting angry at Him, listen to Him. He is speaking to you. He is giving you the answer you need. Maybe it is to go to a treatment facility, a rehab place, so that you can get clean. Addictions are very powerful. You need professional help to overcome the physical and emotional and psychological problems that addiction brings. But through Jesus Christ our Lord you can be set free.

Somali Christian Ministries is helping Somali Christians by provided money so that Somali Christians can get the counselling they need. We will pay the counselor directly so you can get help if you can’t afford it. And if you want to contribute to the counselling fund you are able to donate money through our website and choose the counselling fund.

Maybe you are in a country where Christians are killed and you have to escape that country. God is going to help you. Listen to the Scriptures and see how God helped Peter to escape. Listen, and see how God spoke to Peter and delivered him out of his problem, this will happen to you as well, my friend and fellow believer,

The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate. Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. Then the angel told him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” And he did. “Now put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered.

So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn’t realize it was actually happening. 10 They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him.”

Again we see that God spoke to his believer. Peter was a believer and the angel spoke to Peter and said “Quick! Get up! Now put on your clothes and follow me”

God is a real help in our problems. God is very present in our problems. God is real. He helps us. He is good to us. He speaks to us. We can hear Him. He sees our problems. He knows what we are going through and He provides the answer that we need.

Let’s look at one more Scripture, in the first 2 Scriptures we saw God speak to men. There was Jonah and there was Peter. Now let’s look and see how God spoke to a woman, Hanna. Hanna wanted to have a child but she could not get pregnant. She had a husband but for some reason Hanna could not get pregnant. So she prayed and poured out her heart to God and this is what happened. God spoke to Hannah through the priest, and this is what the priest said,

““In that case,” Eli said, “go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.”

We all have requests from God. God hears our requests and God will answer our requests in a way that is better than we can imagine. We have our own ideas about how God should answer us but they are not as good as His answers for us. Hanna got her son. She got pregnant and she had a baby boy and she named him Samuel.

So my dear Somali Christian God speaks to us. He spoke directly to Jonah, He spoke to Peter through an angel, and he spoke to Hannah through a priest. That should teach us that God speaks to us through His own words, or through an angel, or through a fellow believer. God can also speak to us through other people, or in a dream or a vision. God once spoke to someone through a donkey. The donkey started to speak and gave a person a message.

You know God’s voice. You have heard it before. So have I. My heart is so burdened for you Somali Christians. I pray in the morning and I pray in the night for you all. I want to see you bless by God in a way that you know you have a personal relationship with Him, that you hear His voice and walk according to what He wants you to do.

It might not be easy. You may have a great battle in front of you, like beating an addiction, or escaping from a country that wants to kill you. But God is with you and I am here to tell you that God is going to deliver you and when He does you will be His spokesperson, whether you are a man, a woman, or a child.
